He graduated from Iowa State in 1912 and immediately went to work at the University where he stayed on staff until his death. He served as head of the pomology sub-section of the Agricultural Experiment Station. He received national recognition for work on the development of hardy dwarf apple stocks, is credited for introducing a special dwarf variety known as Clark’s seedling, and did valuable work with thorn less rose stock.
