Students who will not continue to live on campus during the 2023 spring semester must check out of their rooms by Dec. 17, 2022, at noon (non-graduating students) or 7 p.m. (graduating students).

Failure to follow the instructions indicated below will result in continued accrual of room and board and improper check-out charges. For additional cancellation details, please review our cancellation information before you cancel your contract.

If you need to request a late checkout for fall semester (at a rate of $25/day), you can now use the late stay application form found in the Housing Portal. Late checkouts are granted at the discretion of the Department of Residence. The last day to submit a late stay request for the Fall semester is Dec. 16 at noon.

Students who will continue to live on campus during the spring semester do not need to fill out this form, as all residence halls and apartments will remain open throughout winter break.

Information for 2022 Winter Break can be found here.

MOVE OUT STEPS

  1. Schedule a checkout time with your RA as soon as possible! If you can’t schedule with your RA, you can get an Express Checkout packet from your hall desk or community center (apartments). You waive your right to appeal room charges if you opt for express check out.
  2. Remove everything from your room/apartment
  3. Clean your room/apartment by following the list with your check-out packet and read the cleaning tips below.
  4. Take out all trash.
  5. All furniture that came with your room/apartment should be put back in place and assembled (you will be charged for missing furniture)
  6. Inspect your room by filling out the form included with your check-out packet.
  7. When you’re done, close and lock your door.
  8. Make sure all check-out forms are filled out completely.
  9. Put your keys in the packet and seal it.
  10. Return the packet to your hall desk (halls) or community center (apartments).

It’s really important to clean thoroughly and follow all check-out steps. Staff will inspect your room/apartment shortly after you leave. If you are assessed charges, they will be billed directly to your Ubill. Billing could take up to 60 days and it’s your responsibility to review your Ubill.
