All rates for housing and dining are proposed first to student leadership in the Inter Residence Hall Association (IRHA)

Following acceptance by IRHA, the proposed rates are presented for approval to the Board of Regents, State of Iowa at their February/March meeting; final approval is made at the April/May meetings.

Prior to the time that rates are approved, posted rates are for illustrative purposes only and are subject to change.

After initial approval, the Board reserves the right to change rates during the term of the contract by giving 30 days advance notice. If rates increase during the term of the contract, an e-mail notice will be sent to all impacted residents informing them of the change. Residents have 20 days from the date of notification to cancel their contracts without penalty.

Once rates are approved, the “proposed” language will be removed from this website.

The rates listed are for the academic year, both fall and spring semesters. Half of the rate is billed at the start of each semester. Monthly billing is not available but payment plans can be arranged through Accounts Receivable

In addition to the rates listed, all residence hall and apartment residents are assessed dues that contribute to programming and upkeep of equipment that student-led cabinets and councils choose to do. Please review the Terms and Conditions for specific dues information.

Wallace Hall is a building of all single rooms available to students who are 19 and older or in their second year of college. Wilson Hall has both double and smaller single rooms and is available to all students. No meal plan is required in these halls but ISU Dining has great options to choose among!

University Village

University Village is an area where, pending available space, you can opt to have an apartment to yourself (private apartment rate) or share one with someone else (shared apartment rate). All utilities except gas are included.

Units are single gender unless you request a roommate of a different gender. The request must be mutual and in writing

Only two residents may occupy each two-bedroom apartment.

Pet Apartments

  • Pet apartment residents pay the pet rate regardless of pet ownership. If a roommate leaves a SHARED pet apartment, the apartment becomes PRIVATE until the remaining resident finds a new roommate.
  • An Animals in Residence Form must be submitted in order to be considered for a pet-friendly apartment.

Schilletter Village Apartments are for students with dependents/family housing. The rate listed is paid by the contracted resident, an ISU Student.

In the University Village Apartments’ two-bedroom options, students are on single contracts and pay HALF of the rate listed below unless they opt to have the apartment to themselves. This means a typical UV two-bedroom townhouse would be $3015 for each person.

Rates are proposed to go up approximately 3%. In fall 2020, SUV residents were surveyed about their internet services. They shared they would like improved service and what they are willing to pay for that service. This increase is reflective of that feedback.
