House History

Mrs. Elsie Wilson Gwynne (1895-1968) was a native of Renwick, Iowa. she received a B.S. degree from iowa State in 1918. She taught in high school before becoming a member of the Iowa State staff where she taught applied art from 1925-1933 when she married Charles Gwynne. She was co-author of a book Art Training Through Home Problems. As an undergraduate, she was a member of Mortar Board.

More Details Gwynne House has a large den on the north end of the floor that has tables and chairs for studying, playing a game of cards or a quiet place to stretch out and relax. There are two bathrooms on the floor. A water bottle refill station promotes the Department of Residence’s green initiatives.
