House History
Named for Herman Knapp (1863-1935). A member of the class of 1883, Knapp served the University in many capacities over a period of 50 years. He was land agent, college treasurer, business manager, vice president, acting president and taught courses in agriculture. He organized the first chapter of Phi Kappa Phi at the University and helped establish the Memorial Union. He was recognized as an outstanding graduate and received the Alumni Award for service to the University.
