House History
Named for J.B. Davidson (1880-1957). The originator of agricultural engineering at Iowa State, Davidson was Professor and Head of Agricultural Engineering from 1919 to 1946. He was the author of many books and won many honors. Among them were: The Cyrus Hall McCormick medal for achievement in engineering of agriculture, and elected foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture, the Michigan State Centennial Award. He was the first president of the Society of Agricultural engineers. He traveled in both Russia and China as a member of several important American committees.
