Sustainability
Sustainability Defined on the ISU Campus and the Residence Halls
The term sustainability expresses the human desire for an environment that can provide for our needs now and for future generations. Our collective journey to find a way to live harmoniously with each other and within our social, economic, and ecological environments is a quest for sustainability.
Department of Residence and ISU Dining Sustainability Efforts
In February, ISU President Gregory Geoffroy created a 16-member advisory committee to help Iowa State become a leader in conserving energy and minimizing impact on global climate change.
Since then, the Live Green! initiative has been developed and is a university-wide effort to turn Iowa State into a model of energy efficiency.
ISU Dining and the Department of Residence have implemented several programs to follow the Live Green! initiative.
Educational bulletin boards are going up throughout the year giving students tips on how they can reduce energy use.
Students are a great resource for new ideas on ways to increase sustainability efforts and we will continue to work closely with them to minimize our global impact.
