Be a Community Adviser!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Community Adviser (CA) at Iowa State University. There are two types of CA positions within the Department of Residence: Apartment CAs and Residence Hall CAs. You can view position descriptions, application requirements, and hiring process information for these two CA positions at the left.
CAs have extremely important jobs and are critical to the DOR mission. Because the CA experience is one of great responsibility, it also will deliver great rewards both personally and professionally! Each house has one live-in CA who provides leadership to the development of programs and activities in the house and hall, serving as a resource to residents, and enforcing regulations and policies to ensure the safety of residents.
CAs come from diverse backgrounds with a wide variety of skills and talents. However, there are some qualities that we look for in every student we work with:
- The ability to problem solve
- Strong commitment to academics
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Willingness to learn with, from, and about others
- Commitment to create and participate in an inclusive community
In order to be eligible for an interview, you must have either attended an in-person information session or viewed the online information session.
