Be a Community Adviser!
Residence Hall and Apartment Community Adviser positions!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Community Adviser (CA) at Iowa State University. There are two types of CA positions within the Department of Residence: Residence Hall CAs and Apartment CAs. You can view position descriptions, application requirements, and hiring process information for these two CA positions by clicking the links.
CAs have extremely important jobs and are critical to the DOR mission. Because the CA experience is one of great responsibility, it also will deliver great rewards both personally and professionally! Each house, building, and/or area has one live-in CA who provides leadership to the development of programs and activities, serves as a resource to residents, and enforces policies and procedures to ensure the safety of residents.
CAs come from diverse backgrounds with a wide variety of skills and talents. However, there are some qualities that we look for in every student we work with:
- Ability to problem solve
- Strong commitment to academics
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Willingness to learn from, with. and about others
- Commitment to create and participate in an inclusive community
In order to be eligible for an interview, you must attend either an in-person information session or completed the online information session. Please plan your schedule accordingly this fall semester.
