New Freshmen
Most new freshmen live in residence halls in the Richardson Court and Union Drive neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are primarily traditional, dormitory style house, with students living in double, single or triple rooms. Two Union Drive buildings, Martin and Eaton halls, offer suite style living.
Many new freshmen opt to participate in residential learning communities.
Richardson Court and Union Drive are not exclusively reserved for new freshmen, so your neighbors may be upper-division, returning ISU students. Here is the population breakdown by building:

New Transfer Students
As a transfer student, you may be looking for a more mature living environment. The DOR provides on-campus housing options designed especially for upper-division students who are at least 19 years old or in their second year.
- Residence Halls - Buchanan Hall and Wallace Hall
- Apartment Neighborhoods - Frederiksen Court Apartments and SUV Apartments
These residence halls and apartment communities will provide you with the same on-campus benefits and conveniences as the traditional residence hall neighborhoods while giving you more independence and privacy.
New Graduate Students
While the DOR does not have housing specifically reserved for Graduate students, we do offer a variety of locations where students pursuing an advanced degree will be relaxed and comfortable in a more mature living environment. Many Graduate students have called Buchanan Hall, Wallace Hall, the Frederiksen Court Apartments and the SUV Apartments home. In Buchanan Hall, the eighth and ninth floors are specifically reserved for students aged 21 and older and the SUV Apartments house many Graduate and PhD students and their families.
