Schilletter & University Village (SUV) Apartments

Close to where you need to go. Just a 10 minute walk from central campus, SUV is located on the north side of campus on Stange Road. CyRide Bus Service has stops throughout the community making it even easier for you to get where you need to go quickly.

A diverse and growing community. SUV is an eclectic mix of students: families and single students, domestic and international, people and pets.

One of the lowest rates in town!
Rent is conveniently charged to your Ubill monthly and includes the following utilities: water, garbage, cable, and high-speed DSL internet service. Electricity is billed monthly by the University and gas (for heating and cooking) must be contracted with Alliant Energy. A prepayment is required of newly admitted undergraduate residents, but this will be applied to your January rent. You may contract for phone service through IT Services. There is a monthly fee for local landline service, and you will receive a long distance code for long distance billing purposes.

Meal plans are encouraged, but not required in SUV. Many residents say they shop and dine at the Hawthorn Market and Café, located in the Frederiksen Court Community Center.

Both Schilletter Village (SV) and University Village (UV) offer two bedroom apartments that can be private (contracted by one resident or family) or shared (contracted by two residents). Housing is available for:

Amenities

SUV Community Center - Residents are served by the SUV Community Center, located directly in the center of the neighborhood. The Community Center, which opened in April 2006, is home to the SUV Office and boasts a computer lab, large conference room, a multipurpose room and a community and kitchen. It's a great place for SUV residents to study, gather with friends, and participate in social functions.

Playgrounds and Childcare - Families are an important part of SUV. That's why we provide four playgrounds, and sandboxes throughout the community. There's also an on-site day care and preschool (University Community Childcare). The older children of SUV residents attend the Ames school district - they can catch the school bus from several stops within SUV.

Parking and Laundry - While residents can install their own clothes washers (UV & SV) and dryers (SV only) in their apartments, a central community laundry facility is available that uses Cy Cash. Additionally, each apartment has designated parking (permit required) adjacent to their building. Guest spaces are also available to for visitors.

Fitness and Recreation - Residents can use our soccer field, basketball courts and sand volleyball courts. Garden plots are available (in UV only for summer 2009) and a bike path goes through and around the neighborhood.

Dining and Groceries - The Hawthorn Market & Café (located in the Frederiksen Court Community Center) is a retail dining and shopping facility that offers hot meals, take-home foods, grocery items, snacks, and personal items. Hawthorn Market & Cafe's Starbucks™ coffee products are especially popular, as are the daily, weekly, and seasonal menu specials. While SUV Residents aren't required to buy a meal plan, there are a variety of convenient options available.
