Assignment Changes

While all of our residence halls and on-campus apartments are great places to live, we understand that some students would prefer to live somewhere other than where they are assigned. This is why we have a self-service, on-line assignment change process available for you to use in AccessPlus. Once you have an assignment, the ability to make a change is completely in your hands. Please keep the following in mind as you consider making a change:

For many new students, one of the biggest adjustments is sharing a room. Our decades of experience have shown us that the most successful roommates are the ones who effectively communicate with each other. Text messages, sticky notes, e-mails, Facebook comments, Tweets, etc. do not constitute effective communication. Before you change your room because you and your roommate don't seem compatible, read our Roommate Relationship section and talk to your CA / RM or Hall Director.

Fall Assignment Change Timeline

Recontracting
mid-May

Continuing Students can select / change their assignment for the next year. This option ends the Friday of finals week. Visit our Recontracting section for more information.

Mid-May –
June

Changes are not available so we can make New Student assignments.

June –
July

Thursday-Sunday any residents can change their fall assignment.

Changes are not available Monday - Wednesday so we can make New Student assignments.

August

Changes are not available so we can finish making New Student assignments and prepare for move-in. After move-in, changes are not available for the first two weeks of classes so we can get everyone moved-in and verify occupancy.

September –
end of fall.

Any assigned resident may use AccessPlus to change their existing assignment.

Spring Assignment Change Timeline

Spring vacancies become available in AccessPlus.

January –
Start of classes

Changes are not available so we can finish making New Student assignments and prepare for move-in.

After move-in, changes are not available for the first weeks of classes so we can get everyone moved-in and verify occupancy.

2nd week of class –
end of spring.

Any assigned resident may use AccessPlus to change their existing assignment.

Meal Plan Changes / Cancellations

Residents of Richardson Court, Union Drive and Buchanan Hall are required to have a meal plan and are initially defaulted to the Weekly 21 plan. Residents of Wallace and Wilson hall, Frederiksen Court or SUV, are encouraged to have a meal plan, but not required. Meal plans can be changed / cancelled according to the following schedule:

1st fall meal service

Any plan can be changed for full credit, including DD$.

1st fall meal service –
5:00 pm on 1st Friday of fall classes

The meal portion of a plan can be changed for prorated credit, less meals eaten. DD$ can be added, but not refunded or reduced.

5:01 pm on 1st Friday of fall classes –
end of semester

No changes may be made to the meal plans, blocks or DD$ for the remainder of the semester.

December –
1st spring meal service

The spring portion of any plan can be changed for full credit, including DD$.

1st spring meal service –
5:00 pm on 1st Friday of spring classes

5:01 pm on 1st Friday of spring classes –
